TELL CONGRESS TO STAND UP FOR AMERICA!

This simply should not be a close question: Are we a Nation of Laws or not? If the answer is Yes, then each one of us, regardless of political affiliations, must demand that Congress stand up for America as that Country of Laws and prohibit any of our people from exploding boats in international waters and/or killing those who are aboard! We can label those aboard as Drug Smugglers, “Enemy Combatants” or even “Intentional Butchers” but, unless Congress has issued a Declaration of War on their country, we are prohibited by our laws, our military’s laws, and international laws from harming them, unless they actually started shooting at us first! Yes, we do have some “War Powers Acts” that allow our Presidents to act for sixty days in an emergency. But those laws apply to unforeseen emergencies, and the smuggling of illicit drugs, including fentanyl, has been going on for years!

As has been written several times in this 2 Paragraphs series, even known murderers like Charles Manson and Jack the Ripper cannot legally be punished in our country without first receiving the “Due Process of Law!” So, unless that person is actually in the act of attacking someone who is acting in self-defense, that means the accused must be formally charged with a criminal offense, provided counsel if they could be jailed for it if convicted and, unless they enter a voluntary plea of Guilty, be found Guilty by a lawful Jury or Judge before being punished. That is what our Great Country’s Founders prescribed in our Constitution, and that remains as our mandate! Furthermore, as a practical matter, if that were not true anybody in our country could be labeled as an Enemy Combatant and punished or even put to death – for anything, including me simply for writing this article! Where do we draw the line? Well, the Founders drew the line for us in our Constitution, and we owe them a Great Debt of Gratitude for having done that. In other words, they told us that the ends do not justify the means! So now it is simply up to us as We the People to be sure that this fundamental Rule of Constitutional Law continues to be employed! Let’s all help to get this done!
