SOME PHILOSOPHICAL THOUGHTS

This past year I celebrated the 40th Anniversary of my 40th Birthday, So on that occasion I again was thinking about important things in life. (No, you are right, it was my 80th Birthday Party.) But probably the biggest thing I would like to share with our 2 Paragraphs Family is my longstanding question: “What is the worst thing that can happen to people?” Obviously a general question, but it is one to contemplate. And to me, the worst thing that can happen to people is to be on their death beds, look back over their lives and think: “I wish I would have,” or “I wish I would not have.” I thought of those questions at a fairly young age, and have tried not to let them apply to me. Obviously, none of us can do everything we want in life, but most of us are able to do some of the most important of those things. And it is never too late!

Further we should understand that most people in the history of the world who had reached our age had been dead for 40 years . So one of the largest secrets to living a happy and fulfilled life is to be appreciative! Of course, some people worship at the religion of “My yacht is bigger than your yacht.’ But you can always find someone with a bigger yacht. (And, as I like to say, that religion is rather shallow.) So instead, once again, be appreciative of what you do have instead of envious of what you do not have. A major ticket to happiness! And just to live in this Great County at the time that we do and under these circumstances with each other should give us a great deal of appreciation.

So I will stop my preaching at this point. Thank you for being a part of our Family, and I fully wish each of you and others with whom you might share these thoughts my very best for a full and happy life!
