THIS CANNOT HAPPEN!

One of the true pillars of our Democracy and Liberties was given to us by our Founders in our Constitution when they provided for three Separate but Equal Branches of the Federal Government. But now the Federal Judicial Branch of Government is under attack by the Trump Administration. How so? Because it is saying that some judges who rule against the Administration’s wishes should be impeached, and further that funding should be taken away from the judicial branch if it misbehaves. This simply cannot be allowed to happen! One of the reasons that our colonies broke away from England was that the judges were simply doing the King of England’s bidding. No impartial justice, only doing what the King wanted them to do. But the independence of the judiciary is key because it allows judges to rule based upon the law and the facts of the cases in an impartial manner without fear of political pressure, financial influence or reprisal. And, as Chief Justice Roberts recently so aptly put it, the remedy for rulings that are improper is to appeal those rulings first to a Court of Appeal and then to the Supreme Court.

Furthermore, and just as ominously, the same attacks are now being made by the Administration against attorneys who represent parties that the Administrations does not agree with or like. But it is a fundamental principle of our System of Justice that everyone, in both criminal as well as civil proceedings, can be represented in court by competent counsel. Of course those counsel don’t have to agree with or even like their clients, but the system not only permits but requires that attorneys can represent anyone without fear of reprisal or retribution! So even people like Charles Manson must have diligent and competent attorney representation because if we deprive that right to Manson, soon it will be deprived to the rest of us as well. So please join good and understanding people from all walks of life and stand up for an independent legal system because, when it comes down to it, it is our government, and if it is not working we have no one to blame but ourselves!
