OUR NEW SCHOOL CHOICE NOVEL
2 PARAGRAPHS 4 LIBERTY: #372
I believe that the most important issue facing our country today is the intolerably large numbers of public schools that are failing our children. And that result is as tragic as it is unnecessary because if students do not get a quality education they will almost certainly never live up to their potential. So that makes me more than pleased to announce a new book authored by my wife Grace and me entitled 2030 KIDS: We are the Rising Heroes of the Planet (Beyond Publishing, 2022) is now “on the streets.” (More information is provided below.) As you can see, it is a novel about school choice, and it attempts to show how all parents who care about their children’s education can be empowered to improve it. In addition, we have offered to assign all royalties for this book to EdChoice, which was originally founded by Milton Friedman, and is the premier non-profit organization that is sponsoring various school choice programs throughout the country. (If you would like to learn more about the good works being done by EdChoice, please listen to my August 2, 2019 podcast interview of its Director Robert Enlow at https://www.voiceamerica.com/show/3883.)
The book tells the story about Kati, who is a single mother of a third-grade son who wasn’t doing well in school even before the pandemic, and then was truly losing interest in his education once the pandemic hit. So she gathered together numbers of other parents of third-graders and a disenchanted third-grade school teacher and worked to establish a different type of educational system at the school for son’s upcoming fourth-grade class. This evolved into an approach that taught the students to become “investigators” and problem-solvers, which directly resulted in them becoming interested in their own education by making it fun and challenging. And – surprise surprise – it worked! We are proud of our book, and hope to change the world by using it. If you think of it this way, public education is the only “product” in our economic system where the provider dictates what the customer will purchase. So the providers have no incentive to make their product better. But when competition enters the equation, everyone comes out ahead – except for teachers who can’t teach. Please help us spread the word and, as always, feedback is always appreciated.
Thought for the day: It has been shown that birthdays are really helpful for our health. In fact, all studies show that the more birthdays you have the longer you will live . . .
“2030 Kids is brilliant. We change the future by changing the way we think in the present. I will never look at children and their education the same way again.”
