“TWO DEVELOPMENTS”

2 PARAGRAPHS 4 LIBERTY: #305

Two weeks ago I told you that I was strongly considering running for Governor of California if there would be a recall election of Governor Gavin Newsom. And I am truly gratified that many people responded by saying that they would support me. I give my heartfelt Thank You to each one of you! There was only one thing that would keep me from running, and that was if the elected Libertarian Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Hewitt would himself run. Well, last week Supervisor Hewitt told me that he would be running. Since it would be first-rate foolish for two Libertarians to run, I told him that I would not run, and would do everything in my power to support his candidacy. I am in many ways deeply disappointed, because I think I not only will be losing an opportunity during the campaign to show how we can clean up our state government, but I also thought and still think that, since there will not be a run-off election and the candidate receiving the most votes would become Governor, I had a reasonable chance of winning the election. But I am also heartened that such a fine and electable Jeff Hewitt will be running, because he will have an equally-good chance. So please strongly consider supporting Supervisor Jeff Hewitt for Governor of California!

The second development is that this coming Wednesday, March 10, from 10:00 p.m. to midnight, Pacific time, I will be a guest for the third time on George Noory’s radio program called “Coast to Coast.” It is broadcast on more than 600 radio stations in the US and Canada, and in Southern California it is on KFI AM 640. Please tune in if you are a Night Owl because we will be discussing timely issues such as how to improve our nation’s schools and immigration policy through competition, combat our nation’s over-incarceration and other Criminal Justice problems, and what the proper role of government is in addressing the serious problems with COVID-19. All Libertarian responses to our nation’s problems, and they will work. I know we have already discussed those issues before in this 2 Paragraphs series, but please tune in because this will be fun!

Quote of the week from Michael Ramirez, the editorial cartoonist for the 3-7-21 edition of the Orange County Register: “Forget Cancel Culture, I think it’s a sham. I do not like it, Uncle Sam-I-am. Ignoring achievements in the name of the Woke, and cause more division with the fires they stoke. Take history out of context is now the new game. Not looking for justice, just someone to blame. Today, it’s a book, so watch what you do. One day in the future, they may cancel you.”
