“STRIDE TO BE BETTER”
2 PARAGRAPHS 4 LIBERTY: #268
The following story is taken directly from Puppies for Sale, and Other Inspirational Tales by Dan Clark, who is the author of Chicken Soup for the Soul. I think you will enjoy it.
I was in Maui, Hawaii, on vacation when Naomi Rhode, a professional speaker who was in Hawaii doing some seminars, related this experience to me:
“My husband and I had been walking along the beach for several hundred yards when I paused to look back to see how far we had come. I noticed our footprints in the sand and immediately filled with pride. I pointed them out to my husband and commented, ‘Wow, think about how many times we have left our footprints in the lives of others.’
“Suddenly the ocean interrupted by sweeping in and washing away our footprints, leaving no sign of them ever having been there. I was puzzled and almost hurt, and asked my husband, ‘How can we leave a more lasting impression on people that will not be washed away with time?’
“He wisely replied, ‘Just walk on higher ground.’”
Each of us should evaluate our daily lives and commit to reaching a higher level of living by striving and striding to walk on higher ground.”
Discussion for the week: One friend to another: “What are you going to do this weekend? A friend and I are going to buy some glasses.” “And then what?” “After that we’ll see.” (Oh well. . .)
